WHO IS G MALY?

G Maly is a recording artist who hails from East Oakland, California. Born, Gregory Brown in Hayward, California on September 23rd, he has resided in Oakland since age five. G Maly was first inspired to create his own music at just eight years old by watching his father, a former member of the group 187 FAC. His mother also fostered his interest in music introducing him to artists from different genres of music. This has a defining influence on his art-exposing him to artists such as 2Pac, Spice 1, E-40, Biggie Smalls, NWA, Mary J. Blige, Jay Z and others at an early age. As a young child he worked diligently on his craft and often performed his songs in the living room for his mother and friends. In 2005, while attending Skyline High School in Oakland, he adopted G Maly, an acronym for God’s Most Artistic Little Youngsta as his stage name. He was originally part of a group known as “Maney Boiz" and later “The Originalz”- during this time he began creating his own beats and recording over his own production. GMaly continued his efforts in music throughout high school, and although it took a backseat to basketball at which he also excelled-playing varsity for Skyline High, his passion for music never wavered. His talents in basketball earned him a scholarship to Eastern Arizona College providing him with the opportunity to step outside of the community he grew up in-he later transferred to Imperial Valley College completing his educational endeavor.
